Run the office pool without a spreadsheet

The spreadsheet works until about Week 3. Then a pick comes in late, two people tie, and you're doing math at your desk on a Monday.

Sunday Squares runs the pool from one link. Everyone joins on their phone, scores update live, and we work out the winners.

Pick the format

  • One big game: a Square. The Super Bowl, a rivalry game, March Madness. 100 boxes, a winner every quarter, and nobody needs to know football. Super Bowl squares
  • Every week: Pick'em. Everyone picks the winner of every NFL game that week, and the most correct picks wins. How Pick'em works
  • All season: Survivor or Losers. One team a week, never the same team twice, and a wrong pick costs a strike. The last entry standing wins. How Pools work

Everyone joins from one link

Post the link in the team channel or send it by email. Coworkers at home, in another office, or on the road join the same way, on any phone or computer. Someone who won't click a link? Add them by email yourself.

Rules to post before it starts

Put these in the description so nobody can say they didn't know:

  • The entry fee, and when it's due
  • How the pot splits between winners
  • What happens on a tie, and on a missed pick

Keep it work-friendly

Money stays off work systems: players pay you on Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App, and Sunday Squares never holds it. Small stakes or bragging rights both work. Check your workplace's policy first.

Common questions

Whatever your group is comfortable with, including nothing. The host's price doesn't change either way: A Square is $4.99 to host, a Pick'em is $4.99 a week, and a Survivor or Losers Pool is $14.99 for the season. Players never pay Sunday Squares.

In a Pick'em, the closest guess at one chosen game's total score breaks a tie. In Survivor and Losers, you decide before it opens whether a tied game counts as a strike, and entries still standing at the end tie for first and split the pot.

Yes. It's one link, on any phone or computer, wherever they are.

The first time someone plays, they sign in with their name and email, or with Google. No password, and no app to download.

No. Players pay the host on Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App, with the amount filled in. Settle Up keeps the list of who's paid, and the host pays winners in one tap.
